HK's education system

The education system in HK is often labeled as " spoon-feeding education system". Students, who are less academically inclined, are suffocated by the exam-oriented education system in HK. Students have to work extremely hard in memorizing information in text book and training examination skills in order to get a place in University as well as a well-paid job. In other words, University education being limited to only a minority of local students, public examination in HK only measure students' academic performance with a view to choosing the elites for further education. Students whose strengths do not lie in academic subjects obviously being ignored. As the result, those students with special talent may lose their interest in learning and confidence in their ability.
In my opinion, the purpose of education is to help people to realize their potential but not to discourage them by using a lot of examinations. I think government should bring diversity in education. For example, the government should invest more in vocational course for students unfit for academic students. Besides, more extra-curricular activities could be carried out in schools, especially primary and secondary school, so as to help student finding their unique talent. An appropriate tailor-made curriculum for different types of students is the only way to save HK students from the hell of being a zero-point candidate.

  1. The existing Hong Kong education system really gives us a lot of pressure. In Hong Kong, higher academic qualification we get, better future prospective we could have. Additionally, some talented students in non-academic area don't have enough chances to develop their skills. It really takes time to change the teaching methods and modify the education system from the traditional one.
