HK's education system

The education system in HK is often labeled as " spoon-feeding education system". Students, who are less academically inclined, are suffocated by the exam-oriented education system in HK. Students have to work extremely hard in memorizing information in text book and training examination skills in order to get a place in University as well as a well-paid job. In other words, University education being limited to only a minority of local students, public examination in HK only measure students' academic performance with a view to choosing the elites for further education. Students whose strengths do not lie in academic subjects obviously being ignored. As the result, those students with special talent may lose their interest in learning and confidence in their ability.
In my opinion, the purpose of education is to help people to realize their potential but not to discourage them by using a lot of examinations. I think government should bring diversity in education. For example, the government should invest more in vocational course for students unfit for academic students. Besides, more extra-curricular activities could be carried out in schools, especially primary and secondary school, so as to help student finding their unique talent. An appropriate tailor-made curriculum for different types of students is the only way to save HK students from the hell of being a zero-point candidate.

Group
Topic: 日本人に結婚の観念
I enjoy the presentation so much as the topic is very interesting.
" Double Incomes No Child" and " late marriage" seems a global phenonemon as the concept on marriage is similar in Hong Kong, Japanese, China and other foreign countries. I am worry about the aging problem may become worse in future since most of people nowadays do not want to give birth.

Group 5
Topic: 日本人の生活について
The PowerPoint is so attractive and funny. There are interesting pictures as signs. 小丸子 is so pretty. I remembered the time in primary school when I saw  小丸子 during the presentation.  I am surprise that japanese did not have miso soup in daily meal. I think miso is just like coca that people would drink it in every meal. I like miso soup so much. Besides, the living style of Japanses nowadays is similar to Hong Kong which is living in a western style. It is a pity if the unique tradition such as tatami  and miso loss.

Group 6
Topic; 旅行について
The presentation is  detailed and organized with a lot of datas. I am surprised that Japanese like travelling within Japan rather that overseas. It is so difference from what Hong Kong people do. The finding is interesting and the presentation is smooth that I appreciated a lot.

Survey project reflection

Our group's topic was " How do Japanese feel about HK" in this survey project.
It was my first time to interview Japanese so I was very excited when doing this project. I like Japanese culture very much, so I am wondering if Japanese like HK as same as I do.
I am happy that most of the interviewers like HK and give us positive responses which suit our expectation. I am surprised that many interviewers kindly gave us their own comments on the space we provided in the online survey. This phenomenon shows differences between HK people and Japanese because HK people would rarely white down their comments when doing survey but Japanese did. The comments leave by Japanese did show their respect and sincerity on us which I appreciated a lot.
In this survey project,  I suggest  more times and instructions could be given so that we can do better on information gathering and results analyzing.
In future, it will be great if we can interview Japanese face to face or have a Japanese pen friend. I think I could learn more about Japanese language and culture if we could get it touch with Japanese directly. Besides, I think it may be great if we could learn Japanese language and culture by watching Japanese movies or listening Japanese songs in lessons.

Japanese Geography Project

As a citizen lives in an area surrounded by high-rise packed building, I rarely see natural scenery which is the gift of nature. I have heard that the natural scenery in Japan is very beautiful, especially the cherry boom in spring and the red leaves in winter, so I really want to visit Aomori and Akita in Tohoko. The is a flash made by myself to introduce the places that I want to visit in Tohoko >v< !!

Aomori Prefecture is the northernmost prefecture on Honshū and faces Hokkaidō across the Tsugaru Strait. It borders Akita and Iwate in the south.

Japanese Writing Projects

This is a promotion card of Dai-ichi Japanese Language and Culture School. The school name “第一should be originally translated into “number one” in English. However, they use Romaji “Dai-ichi” to replace it because they want to emphasize the word as well as the Japanese language school in order to attract people.

These two photos was taken from「優の良品」(Aji Ichiban). They are two famous band of chocolate in Japan. They use Japanese including katakana, hiragana, romaji and kanji in the cover because they want to promote the product to different kind of people and emphasize the products are made in Japan. Besides, the cute Japanese word could also catch people’s eyes.
